Encompass: 25 Years

Encompass is a unique multigenerational art event that takes place annually in March. Presented by Harwood Art Center in Albuquerque, NM, Encompass features four gallery exhibitions, three site-specific commissions, 40 open artist studios, collaborative art making projects and activities for all ages. It is both a reflection of and an offering to our community.

Harwood was established in 1991 and, at every turn, artists of all ages have inspired and influenced our work; tens of thousands have collaborated with Harwood over the years, leaving an indelible impact on our organization and on New Mexico.

As we acknowledge a landmark anniversary in 2016, we are dedicated to exploring and honoring these extraordinary relationships – and in so doing, telling the story of this extraordinary place. Encompass: 25 Years marks our most expansive milestone celebration. We are grateful to every single member, past and present, of our Harwood universe.

We are particularly thankful to our partners at Humbird NM and JAK Media for producing this extraordinarily beautiful film.

HISTORY OF HARWOOD

The Harwood, originally the home of the Harwood Girls School (1925-1976), is housed in a 1925 neo-classical Revival style building just north of downtown Albuquerque on the Mountain Road side of the Sawmill-Wells Park neighborhoods.
